Awake NY lanza camisetas para ayudar a migrantes en Estados Unidos

La marca estadounidense, Awake NY,  donará lo recaudado a ‘Al Otro Lado’ y ‘Casa Arcoiris’.

La situación de los migrantes indocumentados en Estados Unidos ha ido empeorando desde la llegada a la presidencia de Donald Trump. Poco a poco se han endurecido las medidas para frenar esta situación.

Redadas, detenciones injustificadas y discriminación son sólo un poco de lo que tienen que vivir los migrantes día a día. A últimas fechas, también se sumaron varios tiroteos en los que se tiene la sospecha de un atentado racial en contra de los latinos. 

Debido a esto, diversos diseñadores, marcas y famosos han tratado de aportar su granito de arena para apoyarlos. Tal es el caso de Awake New York. Esta marca nació en 2012 con el concepto de reflejar la diversidad cultural de la ‘Gran Manzana’. Por lo que nos suena muy congruente que hayan tomado cartas en el asunto.

Awake NY en colaboración con el estudio creativo Chroma, lanzó algunas prendas para sumarse a esta lucha. Lo recaudado por la venta de las camisetas será donado a dos organizaciones, ‘Al Otro Lado’ y ‘Casa Arcoíris’, quienes brindan apoyo médico y legal a los migrantes; y miembros de la comunidad LGBTQ+ en la frontera de México con Estados Unidos.

Awake NY is pleased to introduce its two collaborative tees with @chroma.ny which will be available online now at www.awakenyclothing.com. The tees retail for $50USD and all proceeds will go to two organizations: @alotrolado_org, a group which provides medical and legal support to immigrants at the US-Mexico border, and to Casa Arcoiris, which provides legal and health services to the LGBTQ+ migrant community in Tijuana.

Hi fam - Immense gratitude for everyone who was involved in bringing this initiative into fruition! To our community for showing up in numbers, to @awakenewyorkclothing for the support, to @culotte_daddy for the design and many more who served as soundboards for how to go about this in the most conscious and intentional way! Did not anticipate that quick of a sell out (20 mins!) The power in numbers is real. It is important for us to note that this is one of many moving steps to amplifying a beyond urgent crisis. We’ve been working hard but not nearly as hard as the many folks who are out in the trenches doing the work and have been doing the work since time. . Our intention with this shirt was to create an accessible and simple entry point for folks to feel activated to not only raise awareness but directly fund existing initiatives and organizations who are doing the crucial works. So, the very least we could do is mobilize our communities to serve as catalysts for those who are struggling to activate themselves in contributing where they can. It goes with out saying that this is beyond supporting a good cause, this is a full on humanitarian crisis and the very least we can do is emphasize and affirm the urgency that it is. @casa_arcoiris_ac + @alotrolado_org are 2 of many organizations who were highly recommended + vetted for us by colleagues and community who have direct stakes in this crisis + work. Their work is thankless and paramount, and it’s up to us to help sustain them and all those organizing in the ways that we can. . We are looking forward to continuing to strategize different impactful ways to support and lift the existing work but in the meantime - cop the tee if you can, and if you can’t, spread the word 🙏🏾❤️✊🏾 currently  restocking for Round 2, pre orders begin on Monday @ 12 PM EST - TY familia 💛
